The history of the Winchester Model 60 .22cal 23" barrel and no finger grooves starts in 1932/33 after WWI. It was believed that the Springfield Bolt Action would be the first choice for Marksmen, and to encourage training in the shooting sports. Winchester made 165,000 of them and marketed them in hardware catalogs as well as the Boy Scout publications including Boy's Life Magazine. After 1933 Winchester made the Model 60A Target Version with a 27" barrel, finger grooved forearm, and peep site aperture.

Saw the pix of the rifles and got mine out to have a look.

Turns out that is actually a Model 56 by Stevens.

It does have the peepsite.  The front sight was originally hooded, but got lost and was replaced.  I learned to shoot with it, and inherited it when my father passed.

It actually shoots pretty well.  But the peepsite sux for hunting.

Coffee was a lifeline this morning to calm down after panicking ?

With cold temperatures came the layering in clothes, and one unfortunate glance in the mirror under wrong angle made me look like all the curves and bumps in the chest area were  gone. I did not expect that feeling to be so strong and sudden.

How do YOU survive winter????

I'm not sure, this is my first winter after coming out but I had the same exact experience this morning when taking the dog for her long morning walk. Oof.  I made sure when I got ready for work to pick out some nice clothes that were more form flatte ring and actually did my makeup today. Instantly made me feel better.  Now I just need this coat to keep warm and look feminine:

@KymmieL be careful what you ask for.  By tomorrow’s post there could be a foot of snow on here and a full on blizzard.

@Mmindy I am so far removed from the royals if you called me that the Beefeaters would would find me and throw in the Tower of London as an impersonator.  At least they don’t behead then draw and quarter any more.

Guess I’m not built right.  Based on their measurements guide.  To get it big enough in one place, it’s way too big in another.  And the style while pretty seems a bit young for me.

Hey @KymmieLi think it’s snowing harder!

Lady Willow. (Ok last time for that)

@Jandithat's a excellent Target Rifle, you're correct about peep sites not being good for hunting. It also looks like there's a magazine feed under the bolt action. The rifles from this era are accurate and the fixed sights are rugged to hold up to young shooters.

@ElizabethStarI was also raised to call ladies MsFirstName and finding out that Lady Willow is from the House of The Bruce, MsWillow is fitting.

@Willow you are to modest.

Good evening everyone,

Now that would be pretty normal here.  maybe not all that appropriate though, kinda of a throwback to the old south.  Oh and the productivity measurement of grocery cashiers isn’t how fast they scan but how friendly and talkative they are .

so if you are coming here from the north, especially the north east where everyone expects fast fast fast, be prepared for slow, slow, slow.

Dang… I'm looking at that now myself.

Wonder if I can come up with the funds?

This isn't the north woods, but I do like to be warm.

Ok...I love that coat too.

I don't think I'll even look at the link.  I'm trying to save up for an electrolysis package.  Besides, it was 75 degrees here this morning.  Although, I am noticing that women's clothes are generally thinner, so I need more of them.

Good morning everyone

Not a great night, I was awake a lot with heartburn.  Then the canine alarm went off early.

not as cold this morning and possible 70 by the weekend.  Warmer temperatures good, variations not so good.

Ok, @KymmieLyou’re off the hook.  We aren’t buried in snow here at TGP land.

not much happening here.  My wife is trying to build inventory.  A local shop wants to display and sell her things.  She took a few things she had made just to show the couple that owns it and they asked her.  Yesterday she as working on something completely new.  You embroider some applicae on a base material then cork over that and uncover the the applicae.  It becomes the outside of a purse.

Coffee was good, just not exactly what my heartburn needed.

Until later.

I woke up at 2:30 this morning.  All of a sudden - wide awake.  It's going to be rough not taking a nap this afternoon.  I sure hope my sleeping medication refills get here today.

I predicted a blizzard, so we got nothing. If I predicted a trace then we would have the blizzard. that is the way the forecasts usually are around here.  like tomorrow only an inch is forecast we could get hammered.

Up early, stupid body doesn't know when to sleep in. So here I am having coffee with my friends. ??

So, my interview then I have speech therapy. I will post up what happens later.

Hugs,

Kymmie

happy trans birthday! I can't speak personally on the subject, but I hope hormones bring you the changes you're looking for <3

That’s super healthy, to see that something that becomes common has less effect on you and that you are able to decipher these feelings.   Sadly, this trend tends to only deaden good feelings as we tend not to let bad feelings attenuate the same way.   I have noticed less euphoria, but still feel the dysphorias that I have. Sometimes the good sneaks in and reminds me, but often time it’s just me seeing myself in the mirror and being comfortable about what I see when embracing my realized self. I may not get the same buzz I once did, but I don’t feel incongruous when looking at a more “drab” reflection.    Wishing you strength, you are amazing!

Congratulations! and Happy Trans Birthday @LittleSam! That is such a BIG milestone.  I can still remember walking out of my clinic with my first HRT presciption.  I was on Cloud-9.  Wishing you all the best in the start of your new Journey!

maebe thank you I try to be. I thank God for blessings, try to share them, beg forgiveness for my shortcomings n vow to try to do better...2 priests have said no, God doesn't condemn you just for being trans...but apparently evangelicals do   I shall vtry dear thank you
    • MaeBe
Meet him at the being good to others part of Christianity. At the heart of it, there are excellent tenets of the faith. Those that condemn are judging, Jesus would have us be selfless; stone casting and all that. Are you a good person? Are you putting good into the world? If your gender is an issue for God, let God judge. In the mortal realm, let your actions be heard.

and just fi sweeten it..I'm catholic n he hasn't been for years..he's evangelical..whatever that is

Let’s stick to cite-able fact. Most of my posts have been directly in relation to LGBTQ+ rights as it pertains to P2025 and I have drawn direct links between people, their quotes, and their agenda. I have made reference to the cronyism that P2025 would entail as well, by gutting, not cutting, broad swathes of government and replacing it with “conservative warriors” (I can get you the direct quote, but rest assured it’s a quote). All this does is constantly force the cogs to be refitted, not their movement. To say that agencies have directly defied a President is a bit much, the EPA did what Trump told them to do at the direct harm to the environment, the department of agriculture did the same by enacting the administrations forced move to KC which decimated the USDA.      How about Betsy DeVoss for Education? Or Bannon for anything? What about the revolving Chief of Staff position that Trump couldn’t stay filled? Or the Postmaster General, who did much to make the USPS worse?   Let’s not mix politics with racism, sexism, or any other ism. Because Trump made mainly white, male, appointments—many of them not, arguably, people fit for service—or unwilling to commit to term. I can argue this because, again, he’s up for election and will do what he did before (and more of the same, his words).   Please delineate how the selected diversity appointments have negatively affected the US, other than being black, women, or queer? Representation matters and America benefits when its people are inspired and empowered.
