LOL!  That brings back memories of my Basic.

Wow.  Being Army it was Ft. Bragg in January.  We had the WW2 barracks.  I was a couple of years older than a lot of the guys, and in pretty good shape so the physical part was easy for me.  Basic was more of a pain in the [you know] than anything else.  It seemed like mostly to get you used to being harassed.  Never did get leave.

We "graduated" and I got strait on the plane for Ft Sill and artillery.

(I could have stayed at Bragg if I had wanted to lean how to jump out of airplanes - I didn't. Still seems like a dumb thing to do.)

After finishing the artillery training, I got sent to Special Weapons school and ended up in Europe instead of Nam.

I don't regret serving, but it was not the high point of my life.

It's interesting how no matter which service, or even country, all our basic training stories are so similar. In my case, I was at FT Benning GA and went through the Benning School For Wayward Boys; commonly called the US Army Infantry School. Being a harebrained youth, I followed this with Parachute School and Ranger School back to back to back. Strangely, this was an option back then; with w WHOPPING BONUS OF $3000.00 for six years of active service. WW2 barracks, the inspections (I still roll my socks in the prescribe way), being miserable and all the rest wasn't a big deal back then, but looking back, boy I was stupid.

I also learned that there is nothing quite as lonesome as a military post/base on Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's.

Good morning friends. Not much to report except it's another visit to the electrolysis peeps in Chicago today. I didn't get in till 9 last night and my appointment is at 5:15AM!  so a quick cup of coffee is all I have time for this morning. I was happy to get an upgrade in the car rental, a cadillac CT4,  but it is so wasted on me for this trip because I just have time to basically drive to and from the airport.  I've never driven a caddy before. They're pretty nice I gotta say.

Hello friends. Busy with life. Catching snippets here and there. I still haven’t formally come out yet but my friends on Facebook some who I haven’t seen in over 50 years have got to know or suspect! I’m still friends with many from the right while adding a whole lot more on the left. It’s absolutely fascinating to me to have meaningful conversations with people of all political and religious stripes.

Interesting to see so many ex-GIs here. My trick was keeping my clean stuff in the bottom of my laundry bag and rarely touching the stuff in the drawers.

I’ve started taking short hikes on the pacific crest trail and have posted some selfies. One college housemate from the 70s said I needed a haircut and looked like Rip Van Winkle. I really like the fact that I’m unable to take offense at the jibe. I can simply express curiosity on how long my hair can grow and joke about giving a wide berth to strangers carrying kegs up hillsides.

this picture got the most comments. Wondering what lies on the other side of the bridge! I definitely see changes over the past year.E02914FF-9809-44D3-9EEB-831692FAB762.thumb.jpeg.a94199c4475db8c740d2297db71558ba.jpeg

I have heard that the ratio of LGBT, and particularly transgender is higher in vets than the general population.   Not sure what that means tho  LOL

It is usually attributed to gay and particularly trans people joining the military to "man up".  It seldom works, but does give us some useful skills and interesting memories.

Good morning everyone.

I got my haircut this weekend (still a little longish, but much more manageable). Now my co-worker can no longer harass me into putting my hair in a bun. Victory. :)

My mental health still isn't great at the moment, but I'm seeing my therapist today. She'll likely just tell me to take more vitamins and get exercise. Maybe not. One can hope for a more plentiful response, right?

Wish me luck.

Good morning

@Jandi I believe the reason there is a high percentage of vets is similar th why so many of us got married and had children.  We were trying to prove to ourselves and everyone else we were men.  We denied any thoughts of being anything else until we finally had had enough of the charades.  For some that came sooner than others.  The preteens that figure it out are the smart ones.  They never make the to the “see, I’m a man” stage.

i realize this does not explain the FTM side.  I don’t know why for them unless it was society forcing them into motherhood first?

things are getting to be somewhat uncomfortable this week.  It seems that no matter what I try to do there is always something I get criticized for not doing. My wife can always find that one thing you don’t do and take issue.  That’s part of why our daughter is so upset with her mother and has been since she was a teen.  No matter how hard she worked it was never enough.  Mom always found a way to find something wrong.

well I’m not making this a nice post, more of a rant.  Time to stop.

Yeah, That is the mentality of why some MtF Trans people join. Is to do something manly. I can't be trans since I joined the military.  I know that I finally realized after probably 35 years. I never knew the why until the little light bulb started to flicker and came on.

@Willow My wife is the same. She expects me to do everything around the house when she doesn't. Yesterday, she came home from washing and waxing her car. She was in a sour mood. but everything was fine. Just ask her.

Common refrain here. I remember struggling so hard to hide it. A guy in the office once bluntly asked me in front of a dozen others if I was homosexual. We were both up for Major. Not sure if that prompted him or not. My instant response was “don’t be an a$$hole” which was actually true on both accounts. He had no idea what was going on in my head! I never quite fit in no matter how hard I tried.

The ones who are able to take advantage of new laws and medical advances are especially fortunate, and smart! There are way more Allies out there today thanks to education and social media including TGP! Yea TGP!

It's interesting. Maybe they were trying to hide from themselves and who they truly are by being as "macho" or "manly" as possible? I can only say that this was true for me and it took a lot of therapy to sort out.

another interesting day at urgent care..at least i was more alive, went in a red dress and a string of pearls ,,, we talked about  finding  a dr, to fallow up  on my care  that wont have a problem with me being transgender , there is a shortage of primary care dr's in our area so it is a challenge,,,after this experience no chance i will ever be afraid to see a dr as my real self ( Betty ),,,,strange how woman just seem to be all over wanting to help me get well,,,even the stuff that's not pretty

most my support seems to come from woman , odd i guess, but it dose make me feel like one of the girls ...

I may be off here, but I think many men see transwomen as a threat to "masculinity" in general.  Maybe on a subconscious level.  Why would someone give up their male privilege unless there was something wrong with it.  Maybe there is.

Just some of my fuzzy thinking/

Hope you’re feeling better soon Hannah,

Its refreshing to know there are caregivers who care enough to support you in spite of the legal name on the chart.

Good morning everyone,

it was an early rise to get on the road, the hotel didn’t have coffee ready. So it’s turnpike service plaza to the rescue.🤢

@Mmindy, service plaza coffee is downright barbaric. It;s about one step above battery acid. Sorry you've got to deal with that while driving. Be safe.

Good morning

@Mmindy I’m sorry you are forced to drink turnpike coffee.  That usually tastes like it’s been sitting on the warmer and is burnt.  Be safe out there.

I had a restless night .  Around 1am our dog and I watch a storm from our porch.  Later I watch one over the ocean.  More storms predicted for tonight.

Moving anything else into our condo is on hold.  We found yet another construction problem that is leaking into a wall and ruining our guest room carpet.  Very frustrating to say the least.

Anybody else having issues with getting E?  There is apparently a National shortage.  I have enough for a couple more injections but then I could be in for serious problems if I can’t get more.

now that I’m done with the bad news here’s the good news.  Oh wait, I don’t have any.

Hi again,

well maybe now I at least have some better news.

First, the site manager came over and saw the evidence of the water leak. They will open the wall, insure that the leak is from the previous location and dry, spray a mold agent, close and repaint.

Second, my endocrinologist has send in a script for patches to replace the injections.  I don’t know which patch, size or dosage at this time.  Supposedly, the patch shortage is resolved.  I do have an ample supply of syringes and several different needle sizes.  I guess they are a controlled substance.

I made an appointment with an ophthalmologist. My vision has been getting worse, especially at night when driving or at home in a low light location.  I never quite trust optometrists to get it right but that’s who I’ve gone to since moving here.

Finished “UnClobber”. The author makes a compelling argument that the Bible does NOT condemn LGBTQI. But does condemn prostitution, adulterous and men in a position of authority or wealth forcing themselves on others.

The primary argument he makes is that Greek/Hebrew words were not properly translated.  That when the Bible was written there was no existing word that would translate to the “modern” word, homosexual or homosexuality.

Lastly, he refutes the modern translation of Paul’s writings.  The key words used by Paul do not exist any where else in the Bible and appear to be two words combined.  And with no other reference for them, the accuracy of the modern translation is doubtful.

So, if you are concerned that you are going to hell for being who you are, don’t be.  😀

Thank you @Willow. I have been saying the same thing in various other threads here for a LONG time. The author, Colby Martin, is a co=founder of Sojourn Grace Collective in San Diego. He's also become one of the the leading voices in what is called the progressive Christian movement. I don't agree with all of his Biblical interpretations, but he is a sound Biblical scholar and his point here is spot on. UnClobber is an excellent book, and his argument on the Bible and the LGBTQI community is compelling, articulate and theologically sound. Every Christian should read it.

Thank you again, Williow. you have made my entire week.

Welcome to the forums, Felix!! It sounds like you keep yourself very busy and have some wonderful musical talent. My wife enjoys playing the ukulele, too.   There are lots of veterans here - not sure if any were Marines, though.   The forum is filled with lots of information, links and amazing people. Jump in where you feel comfortable.

I just want to mention, where I live there are tons of cis guys your height or shorter. Among them is my dad and one of my professors (who are well over 17 y/o lol), and I honestly don't think twice about it. Every time I go to the grocery store I see at least 4 different guys around that height too. I don't think your height will be an issue towards passing long-term. (Well, maybe it's different in your region, but just wanted to throw in my 2 cents.)   I can relate to the hands thing though. If I ever hold something in front of the camera to take a photo of it, I feel like I have to crop my hands out so they don't "out" me. (I admit that that's silly.)

I noticed something like this too once I socially transitioned. I am so accustomed to people referring to me as a guy and using the right name, that socially I feel fine most of the time. This just makes me more aware of how physically uncomfortable I get sometimes.

Some of them are us.  I view while logged out sometimes.  But I also know that so much of this forum is public.  I really wish more areas were "members only."  I'm aware that stuff I post here is publicly viewable, so I never post last names, first names of other people, pictures, or give my location.  I tend to think my husband and GF would be displeased at the few things I do post here.... and they may be right.   Our times are pretty uncertain, and it seems to be "fox hunting season" out there.

On May 4, the Trans Chorus Of Los Angeles did a whole 90 minutes of music that was all written by Trans composers and all of our singers and musicians were Trans / NB.  Several of the pieces were actually written by our chorus members.  (I was running a $3,500 set of video cameras on the show and am editing the the massive gigabytes they put out today. We had several guest artists either on stage or who contributed material.  One of the artists was Wrabel who wrote the song The Village which he has dedicated to the Trans Community and describes a young Trans child and the problems they had in their village.  The other MAJOR Trans Artist was Jennifer Leitham, a Bass Viol and Bass Guitar player who as a young man played with the Big Bands of the 60's and 70's in her male self into Transition, and wrote an autobiographical song entitled Manhood which tells of her love of the men she played with in the bands but her not really fitting as a man. Jennifer has played with the Chorus before and is always good music fun to have around.  Two of our members collaborated on a music and poetry piece simply entitled "I'll - - " which brought some tears with a promise to Trans Young People with the whole chorus shouting "I'll be there for you, I will be there for you" said for Trans Kids.  (We actually had a few Trans kids in the audience to hear it.)  My video editing program has about 40 minutes to go producing the main body of the edited video which has the actual song clips in the right order.  Next to put in the Title slides and the credits.  The stuff I get myself into.   The concert took place at the Renberg Theater which is part of the Los Angeles LGB Center in Hollywood.

Hi, I'm Felix a little trans guy from a small town. My pronouns are he/they and I enjoy music and all wildlife, I doodle on all my homework assignments. I really don't know what to say but, my favourite animal is a cow, my favourite musical genre is country, I play electric bass & acoustic guitar as well as the ukulele a little bit of piano and drums (hand drums and drum sets). I like things of all sorts and I like food, a lot. My favourite meal is French fries and a good steak. My Personal Record for dead-lifting is 310 lbs and I like to sprint and play basketball. My mum's a "bit" overbearing but what can you do. I love reading Manga, I'm currently reading Assassination Classroom, I also enjoy reading Stephen King. I plan on joining the Marines after high school and become a k-9 handler.  I think that's all. For now :)

I didn't use makeup even in my girl form.  And certainly not now in my boy form.  I don't even like sunscreen...it just feels greasy.  I've always disliked putting stuff on myself.  Partly because of the physical feeling, and partly because I don't want to pretend to anybody.    My partners are mostly the same...makeup isn't really a thing for our faith.  But my GF and husband have one particular vanity - covering up gray hair.  IDK if I will feel differently when I start getting some of my own, eventually.
    • Jet McCartney
I'm ftm but I still wear makeup on occasion to cover up my rosacea. Just primer and sunscreen usually. Sometimes I'll fill in my eyebrows too

I have the Pierre by New York Toy Collective, I think I bought it from a different online store but it is that brand. The size recommendations will say that the four-inch shaft (the small Pierre) is for people 5' tall and under. I am 5'8" and it is fine for me. The larger (regular) Pierre shaft size is way too big to wear regularly, but it is a great packer to have around for gender affirming play at home. So even if you are taller than 5', if you aren't sure and you want something easy to wear, go with the small. It is a silicone packer.

Yes, resilient, for sure.  Ours were elementary/middle school age when their father died.  The girl took it really hard, losing her father.  My husband has been there as friend, counselor, and stepfather.  He was a dear friend of their father, and he has put in a lot of effort to raise them.  The eldest son is now his secretary, aide, and driver at work.   Since I'm young-ish and not their primary parent(s), I have the role of being an older friend to them.  They don't seem to have any issues with my gender.  I'm just Jen, and everybody knows that Jen is a little different.

If you're looking for a millennial female who might be interested, maybe contact Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez? Y'all might have some things in common, and I think she and her partner are doing the "childless" thing.      Interesting that your wife did concrete work.  My GF spent some time laying concrete for her own projects....while 6 months pregnant.   She's a very stubborn girl.  Probably the exact opposite of the millennial female you're looking for, since she's a mother of 5 (and wished she could have more.)  Interesting how folks can have similar origins, but come to opposite conclusions.  My GF grew up in dire poverty, stealing to eat and take care of her little sister.  As a young adult, she spent several years living in a commune, and was a member of an armed communist political movement.  Now she's probably the most fervent anti-leftist, anti-government person you could ever find.  Experiences really shape who we are.    The lesson I draw from this is that globalism is not the right solution, and even the USA is too large a nation for everybody to agree.  Time to downsize voluntarily, before a civil war does it for us.  Some folks suggest that the USA could become between 4 and 7 different nations.  The way the world is going, I suspect you'll get your "depopulation" wish....but it will come about through war, plagues, and famine.

I made apple pies, since we have apple trees here.  A classic, simple recipe, everything made from scratch.  We can make just about any kind of pie here - pecan, apple, pear, peach, blackberry....    I think the 6-burner stove came from an old diner.  So, technically a restaurant stove, just a small one.  It probably came from an auction, as my partner usually has an eye for deals.    This stove has 8 burners:   https://www.lowes.com/pd/FORNO-48-in-4-32-cu-ft-2-26-cu-ft-Steam-cleaning-Double-Oven-Convection-Gas-Range-Stainless-steel/1003096398?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-app-_-ggl-_-PLA_APP_186_Cooking-_-1003096398-_-online-_-0-_-0&ds_rl=1286890&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIj86BiPj3hQMVeTbUAR2m5wexEAQYASABEgI9tvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds   This one is the one I would love to have...it has 10:   https://www.lowes.com/pd/FORNO-Galiano-Gold-Professional-60-inch-Freestanding-Gas-Range/5013821825?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-app-_-ggl-_-PLA_APP_186_Cooking-_-5013821825-_-online-_-0-_-0&ds_rl=1286890&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIj86BiPj3hQMVeTbUAR2m5wexEAQYDSABEgIt__D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
