YESSS!!  Definitely a food group!

Gotta agree about chocolate, even though I'm now only allowed the sugar free kind by my doctor. (I have been known to cheat...)

I was going to add chocolate as a food group, but I see that's been well covered. Heh.

When I first announced my transition to some friends, their immediate reaction was, "So now you'll become a chocoholic."  I said, "It's way too late for that.  In fact that should have been a sign!"  😄

Good evening

8 straight hours on my feet.  They aren’t used to that!

Bourbon or whiskey?  My preference would be Jamesons Black Whiskey.  Yes, the Irish side wins out.  In fact I really don’t like Scotch single malt.

Chocolate doesn’t have a chance in our house.  And for me the ratio of chocolate to weight gain is like 1:2. Ugh!  And once it’s on it takes me forever to get it back off.

@Dillon I guess my Snoopy cartoon hit the mark for you.

@Rianon I’m so glad we’ve been able to give you a great welcoming experience.  We are all here to help each other and support all, new or old friend doesn’t matter.

hugs

Bourbon is always my go to - but I also enjoy a good gin and tonic, too. Not  big on Scotch although I've found a few that I enjoy.

Just remember, all bourbons are whiskey, but not all whiskeys are bourbon. 🙂

I have stopped for the night in St. Peters, MO. Thought I could make it across the Mississippi. But hunger and sleep got to me.

On the way out of state. Stopped at the VA in Cheyenne. Got a blood draw for my Endo. Then was able to get my blocker shot early.

Just wondering what my mom is going to say about my hair. I guess I will find out tomorrow.

Hugs,

Kymmie

Good morning, everyone. First cup of coffee is in the books as I sit here checking in and catching up on the news of the world.

Safe travels @KymmieL!

Enjoy this beautiful day!!!

Already had a couple of cups, and fed the birdies and cat.  Now I need to think about feeding myself.

I'm planning on going up to Asheville today for my support group at the VA.  But first I need to get a propane tank filled.  It may be spring, but it's still nice to have heat.

First cup of coffee and wondering what the day will bring. I have Bible class on zoom this morning. We're a small and pretty dynamic group and I've come to feel close to most there, so I look forward to it. Then my neighbor is taking me on errands. For me that's a busy morning. I spend most mornings resting because of fatigue from fibromyalgia. I might wear my favorite bucket hat while I'm out. A woman at my trans support group said a hat might make my hair look less feminine. My goal is less feminine instead of specifically masculine since I can't go on T for medical reasons and I'm not sure I would want to anyway. I do perceive myself as a little more masculine when I wear hats, so it was interesting to hear the suggestion from someone else.

Good morning

I had a rough night last night.  Too many things on my mind.  I finally gave in and took acetaminophen PM but then I could shake the sleepiness off this morning.

I guess I’ll try some time in the pool and dry sauna at the Y this morning.

First cuppajoe is done time for a second.  As my old drill Sargent would say, smoke’s if you got m. Me, H no! Never smoked and never will.  I see people complain about the price as they buy 1 to 5 cartons and search for any possible discount they can find.  At $75 and up.  I guess that’s the hardest part of my job as a non-smoker learning all the different brands and sub-types.  And between the cigarettes, cigars, chew, and vape flavored, menthols soft and hard packs it is an entire wall of of products.  The young man I worked with said I’m doing fine, took him several months to figure it all out.

keep safe @KymmieL  take care of your mother.

hugs to all

@Rianon I’m so glad you enjoy reading this thread.  We talk about lots of things just like good friends and neighbors would talk about at each others kitchen table while enjoying coffee and company.

Good morning, Willow! And good morning, Everyone!

I think that's what I enjoy so much about this thread: it's everyday-ness. I can be myself. Being myself has been a long time coming. All those years (I could say "decades"!) while I was living in the male mode, I so longed to be myself. Then, when I finally found the courage to attend the local gender center, I was dismayed to find that –– in order to "fit in" –– I had to prove a kind of hyper-femininity. So, once more, I was unable to be myself.

Ah, I see my morning brew is ready. Help yourselves! Half & Half is in the fridge. I'm sorry but I don't have any sweetener. Clean coffee cups you'll find in the cabinet to the left of my Mr. Coffee.

Cheers!

Well this morning's class didn't go great. We usually all click but not so much this time. I actually snapped at someone, and I didn't mean to come across that way. I texted her an apology and will check in with her when I see her Sunday. Errands are done, and my neighbor clipped my cat's nails for me. This cat is a two-person job.

@WillowFirst week at jobs threw me off too. I am trying to comprehend the price of cigarettes. Who knew?!

@RianonI'm glad you find this place inclusive. I do too. One of the local groups here is not. I've attended a few meetings, but even though they're nice to me, I'm the only trans man and don't feel comfortable or really part of the conversation most times. Fortunately, I did find a better group.

Hi, Dillon

I too would feel terribly uncomfortably when I'd attend meetings or socials of our local group. That really took my by surprise. It wasn't so much that I was made not to feel welcome. It was how cliquish the group was. How each person defined his or her identity dictated the sub-group to which he or she belonged. There was very effort made by people to get to know members of the other sub-groups. The one friend I did make there was a trans man (he is still one of my best friends) and I remember him telling me how unwelcome the group made him feel. It was a real shame.

Argh, a couple of very stressful days.  We made an offer on a house we liked.  The asking price was too much for us, but we thought they could be persuaded to come down to an uncomfortable but doable price.  While waiting on their response, the car died.  We had to get it towed.  Yay CAA (Canadian equivalent of the AAA)!

I picked the car up this morning after it was repaired.  It had blown out a spark plug.  (Sounds like the last guy who serviced it didn't torque the spark plugs properly.)  The mechanic at the dealership was able to replace the spark plug, which surprised him: generally if this happens the threads are stripped and the head is a write-off.  He did warn me that there was a "knocking" noise that only happened when the engine was warm.  When I heard it, I realized it was a repeat of the original problem - that's how it started.  So, it is going to happen again, maybe next month, maybe tomorrow.

Now we have to buy a (used) car as well as trying to buy a house.  We called our realtor and told him that we won't be making a counter-offer.  Back to the listings to find a cheaper place.  I am stressed to the max!

I hope you all have a better day.

Our government is huge and could, and probably should, be streamlined. But we are living in 2024, and not the late 18th century.  The founders did provide for updating the Sacred Constitution.  And it has been done on occasion.   There is a lot going on, and I don't want to be a single issue voter.  But I feel that it is being forced on me as a matter of my survival.

Many women my age wear their hair super-short, and I don't really have a need to have it long.  Longer in places where I can't grow it, if it is long  No aspirations to be a supermodel here.  The mustache would have to go before the wig comes if I ever did that.  I am threading a narrow path.

Not all evangelicals condemn people for being trans.  Some evangelicals are even trans.   He can pray for you all he wants, that is fine.  I will personally take all the prayer I can get.   It sounds like he has been reading or listening to John McArthur or the SBC.  Not much you can do. Pray for him.

It'll come in waves with hormones. I have noticed that when I apply a fresh patch and the next day comes I feel euphoric and towards the end I feel really bad and dysphoria kicks in. I still feel body dysmorphia of what I have and can't wait till SRS

"entries from “citizens who have changed their gender” will not be considered"   Considering that trans people don't "change their gender" but rather may or may not transition to some extent to affirm their gender, this rule seems superfluous.

They make supplements for hair growth I have been using one for four months and it is now at 6" long when I had nothing before. Although I take more than the pills. I take growth spray, oil, and a supplement that is added to a drink. My hair is very healthy. Unfortunately it's very curly so it'll take longer to grow

That's a toughy to say. But I do know that it's an area for improvement with me. I can get pretty down on myself sometimes. I guess I have to remember that I'm human just like everyone else, not perfect. And that's okay.   Lots of love, Timber Wolf 🐾🪻

Good morning    On this date in 1972 it was a Saturday. I  made a pledge to love and honor my wife and keep her forsaking all others.  I have kept those vows and here we are celebrating our 52nd anniversary still together.  Still caring for each other through sickness and in health.  Still sharing our lives.   Other than that, it’s another day near the beach.  80 and mostly sunny.     I found a ‘17 GMC Acadia yesterday I want to take a look at.  It’s a bit more than I wanted to spend but it’s doable. Only 69k miles on it, with the low mileage I put on cars these days it probably won’t ever hit 100k if I do beget it.  Low mileage now is  likely because it was a leased car at some point. Those usually get pretty good care and not a lot of miles.  It would be similar in size to my Ford, 7 passenger seating but a more basic trim which is fine.  It only has a 4 cyl engine so potentially rather under powered for a relatively large SUV.  The ford has a 4.0liter 6 which is a bit large for cars these days.  Instead of full time all wheel drive, it apparently has 4 modes, 2, 4, sport (what ever that is, I presume it’s over drive turned off) and anti slip.  It’s probably not going to happen but I am keeping my eyes open for a good deal. The old Ford is just that, an old worn out Ford.  Since I bought the Ford I’ve only put about 10k miles on it in 6 years.  My daughter once had an Acadia, top trim package.  When she was driving back and forth to work close to 100 miles per day and going to Philadelphia every week another 500 or more.  For her the miles added up fast.   still keeping my eyes open.  This is about the right age and size but I was hoping to spend about $2000 less.   Other than that I hope to meet with my minister today about paper topics for my class submission.   Other than that Monday is laundry day so I’ll be doing several loads of laundry today.     I put on a neutral gel nail polish last night.  I tried this before, however, I don’t believe I correctly understood the how to get a good result so I was more careful this time.  All I want it’s to give my bpfinger nails enough strength to grow out just a little and stop tearing.   Well, I need to call to make an urology appointment.   @Birdiei was born in Ohio and until Lamda Legal sued them you could not get a sex change on a birth certificate for any reason.  Now you can.  In South Carolina a name change requires $300 and a form filled out and filed with the clerk of courts.  But a gender change requires a birth certificate with the new gender listed.  I am hoping they will permit gender X eventually but right now the state is too Red to do any such thing.   Willow

I have the problem, that I see myself at 3 maybe 4 on the list. I don't have the self love that I should have.   What does it mean to you?   Kymmie

Seems the stuffy day-centre has swapped out Psychiatric Services and therapy to the local BSA hospital. BSA works closely with the local university and is much more gender accepting than the day-centre. The day-centre's psychiatrist wanted to treat me for gender dysphoria by correcting it. 🙄   I logged into MyChart app at the hospital and updated my preferred name (Birdie) and preferred gender marker for them to use.  I'll try and get a referral for gender therapy at the hospital as well.    Nevada is my place of birth and I found out changing the gender marker on my birth certificate there only requires a letter from a licensed therapist, but a name change still requires a court order.    Changing the gender marker to female would at least be one step in the right direction, then I could renew my ID to state female instead.
