Wow, That's messed up. I can't get over how reckless some people are these days.

Yeah. I've got three disabled people living in my house that may not survive it. My wife in end stages of autoimune pancreatitis, My son with emphezema, and his wife with stage 4 lupis who has failing kidneys and liver. It could be devistating here.

Are ALL our SO's named Susan?

Jackie, my SO was born February 1956, and her parents named her Beverly Sue this turns out to be extremely popular name combination back then. Her Father and I are the only ones who call her Suzie. The rest of the world know her as Bev. or Beverly. When we dated in high school no one knew her as Suzie and accused me of make up her name or maybe dating her sister. She definitely had two different personalities, school bookworm, and on weekends a bonfire?hot hippy.☮️

She is retiring October 29 after 42 years in accounting Monday-Friday, and Hippy Biker Chic on the Weekends. She’s always been able to drink with the boys, and loves live music from many genres. The picture is us at HippieHillsDeadFest

Yes, however Ms Beverly Sue DOES NOT want to be called Susan. You can call her almost anything and she’ll answer. Call her Susan and she’ll ignore you or remind you, it’s SUE or SUZIE.

My wifes sister passed away last week. We went to her service Saturday. My wife is imuneo compromized. She has been sick ever since. Been to emergency room 3 times since then. They follow a care protocol with her. Last night her mom called her to tell her that her neice went to Washington state with COVID. Her daughter and husbans were at my wifes sisters service and my wife huged both of them. Now we both have to go to the hospital and get tested. I am SO angry right now.

Yeah, that is SO not cool. Fingers crossed. Hopefully the plague carrier didn't manage to pass it on.

was going to babysit my granddaughter next week for her schoolteacher mom.  But My son and his wife (unvaxed) have covid symptoms now, and she has been staying with her cousins for a few days.

have had my shots, but the covid mom says she'll keep her there for a few more days.

So far the symptoms have been relatively mild.  They're still waiting on test results.

Sheesh, I don't know what to think anymore.

In my defense I couldn’t see what I was typing to know it was that bad.

Thanks, Ohio is actually my home state.  Born in Fremont and lived here 35 years.  The rest was 32 years in Virginia and 5 so far in South Carolina.  I don’t have any reason to come back anymore.  Mom, dad and sister are all gone.

It's like nirvana today!

Weather. That doesn't sound like a deep spiritual dive, but we've got 66 and cool and clear and  not humid!

After a heat wave and serious dehydration and heat exhaustion, I feel cured.

Change can be good, right? Celebrate it when it is, I say.

Y'all have sweet breaths of air today.

Crazy start to my day with a 5:30 wake up call, nice walk then off to work early to get a host of stuff done before my noon electrolysis appointment.  I'm being challenged in a few areas schedule wise. My receptionist is in a psych hospital right now and I'm not sure when she will be able to return to work and I have my BA coming up in 9 days. I'm frantically looking to potentially hire someone this week just in case I need a replacement (current employee isn't communicating any updates so I have to cover my bases) and I'm pulling a bunch of shifts before my surgery just in case my other person needs to pull some OT. I'm out for at least 5 days post-op.  All of that work is restricting my other personal things that need to get done before surgery AND I'm trying to manage the new office remodel.  ahhhhhhhhhhh.   Just breath.....................................

That's it Bri, Just breath. I do pray that your receptionist is doing well, and returns in time for your medical departure.

@Willow My Suzie and I moved from the St. Louis, MO metro area in 1994, to the Indy metro area, and we still have family and friends asking when we're moving back. WE ARE NOT MOVING ANYWHERE. This is our forever home and we like it. They just don't understand moving away from your birth home, and staying away. Safe travels.

Good morning near afternoon everyone,

Today's coffee was :coffee: HOT, black, and strong.

@Jamie68 much love and many prayers to you and your family.

Morning, all. I had a fantastic weekend. My husband and I bought our home, which needed A LOT of TLC, summer of 2019. We hadn't had anyone over yet because the house was not ready and then the pandemic hit. We had a little gathering Saturday night for the first time with some friends who are in our "bubble" and who are all vaxed. Amazingly, I did not suffer anxiety leading up to this event. I generally suffer quite intense social anxiety despite my concerted endeavor to cultivate the virtue of friendliness and my quest to "be myself" (whatever that means). I had been praying for liberation from the sometimes crippling self-doubt I very often experience, and there was one night in particular recently while praying that I felt great strength supporting me. I have been focused very much on being true to myself and trusting that that will be just fine (and hopefully a blessing to others). Anyways, the party was a great success. Tropical storm Fred left us alone and we were able to go swimming in the pool. One friend commented that the feng shui in our home was amazing (what a compliment!). You know how you never know how a party will evolve? Well, we enjoyed hanging out in every area of the house throughout the afternoon and evening. There is an open area adjacent to the living room that I had envisioned as a potential dance floor, and lo and behold one of my friends started dancing there and I joyfully joined in. A good time was had by all. I felt mightily accomplished. Not just for the superficial reason of having had a nice party - I feel our home and hospitality is an expression of myself, and everyone was digging it - a big confidence boost! The friend who commented on the feng shui was actually a friend of a friend whom I met for the first time. He was telling me how welcome and comfortable he felt with me and my "partner". Him using "partner" rather than "husband" made me really feel seen by him.

In other news, my semester begins this week (I'm a prof.), so I'll be a bit more scarce, but I'll be around. Much love to all.

I was born and pretty much raised in upstate NY.  I've lived here in NC over 50yrs now and I'm quite satisfied to stay.  I've only been back for a very few visits.  It's changed so much it doesn't feel like home to me.

Evening update

hi everyone

we stopped in Sioux Falls, SD. Hoped to go a bit further but settled on here after slowed by road construction and we took a side trip in Minnesota to see a bison herd.  They didn’t cooperate.

Thats what we agreed to do if we see something interesting on the map, go see it!  Now I have to figure driving time to Portland OR because that’s the only deadline we have.  I have to decide available sightseeing time to decide what we see now and what we see on the way back east.

@KymmieL I’m going to measure straight through drive time from a place in Wyoming familiar to you.  That gives me time in the badlands and I’ll have to see about any other stops. Except for coffee.

Just let me know. Across SD. to Just pass Kadoka, then through the badlands joining I-90 at Wall.  I can give you some quick ways to get here to Laramie from Rapid City. Let me know.

Good morning!

Today is a no makeup day as I have laser later. I am not worried it is just not that common an occurrence. I usually wear a little and a full face is almost as rare.

I was explaining laser hair removal to a friend yesterday and mentioned that if your personality is of the type: To comfort someone and be super nice, then zap them with lasers as they try not to flench, the ask how they are doing and offer water or other comforts - this might be the job for you.

On laser days I seam to be less worried about a not perfect day, as I will likely not remember when the zapping starts.

Wishing everyone a happy Tuesday!

Off to the hospital again  for another 9 hour session of holding the hand of a person I love as she slowly dies.  I do what I can for her but we both know it's just a matter of time.  I have to admit I am having fun confusing the medical staff having boobs but answering as male.  I'm not sure but this feels like a comforanble place to be.

You probably remember the Target PR fiasco.  I remember reading an account from a woman who shopped there.  She went into a stall and did her business, and someone came into the bathroom and began swinging stall doors open, and when she came to her stall, the woman peeked at her through the crack. "What are you doing?" "Checking for perverts." The writer was so stunned by the absurdity that she finished up ASAP and got out of there, while the other woman entered a stall and locked it, made sure it was locked, and locked it again.

      Nothing about eradicating TG folk.

If 9 out of 10 parts are ok, that doesn't mean I need to accept the bad parts (that are aimed directly at me).  That seems suicidal.
    • Ivy
True, most of it has nothing to do directly with us.  It's the parts that do that are the problem.   I see the  few problematic statements as being a big problem.  Just because a lot of it may be okay, doesn't change that. Even supposing the rest of it might be good for the country, it doesn't help me if I'm being "eradicated".  I suppose I should be good with that, because it's for the "greater good".  If me being gone would please a number of people, then it's my civic duty to disappear, and vote to implement that.
    • Ivy
Yeah.  There are already laws against assault.  I don't think the overwhelming majority of trans women have any desire to harass cis women.  Speaking for myself, if I go into a women's washroom, it's because my eyeballs are already floating - not for kicks.  And I worry about getting clocked and assaulted by some guy being a "hero."
    • Abigail Genevieve
Only three, maybe four, sections even mention transgender.  Most is a conservative agenda I have no problem with.   In the sections that mention transgender, there are very few lines.  Those lines ARE problematic, in every case. Unequivocally.  I can't see some of them standing up in court.  In one case a recommended policy goes against a court decision, which strongly suggests the implementation of that policy would be stopped in court.    Anyone maintaining that this is written simply to support Trump, to support him becoming a dictator, to crush transgender people is feeding you a line.  Nor is it an attempt to erase transgender people.   People will have to decide if the overall goals are worth the few problematic statements.  Overall, I support it.  Of course, I have some reservations.
    • Abigail Genevieve
It is unfamiliar, therefore threatening.   For 90% or so of the population, gender id can be simply and quickly determined by a quick anatomical observation.  They have no understanding and cannot imagine what it would mean to have a body different from the id.  It is unimaginable.  Therefore, wrong.   So there is this strong headwind.   I haven't entered this discussion, but here is a script: A: I can't imagine what it must be to have TG. B: You're a man, right? A: Well, of course. "amused" B: Imagine you were required by law and custom to wear women's clothing all the time. A: It wouldn't happen. B: Okay, but for the sake of the argument... A: That would be disgusting.  I would be very uncomfortable. B: You have it.  That is what TG people go through all the time. 24-7-365. A: Really? B: And then they are told they are perverts for having those feelings.  The same you just described. A: I see. B: And someone comes along and tells you you need conversion therapy so you will be comfortable wearing women's clothing all the time. A: I think I would break his nose. B: You understand transgender folk better than you think.

I have found some people correlate TG = child predator ... just as some have correlated homosexual = child predator...    I am baffled by the TG = unsafe connection ... my wife tends to think this way, that this is all about sexual deviancy ... I try to ask how my preference for wearing frilly socks with embroidered flowers and a comfortable camisole under my lavender T-shirts is sexually deviant (or sexual anything) but I don't get very far...
    • EasyE
Best wishes to you as you take this step ... many blessings to you!

Not sure.  The perp is a minor.  The problem here is NOT transgender, the problem here is incompetent and criminal administration.  See https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/family-of-loudoun-co-student-sexually-assaulted-ineptitude-of-all-involved-is-staggering/3231725/ It is more than annoying that people think the problem here is TG and that other people think the solution is some stupid statewide law.  Like an appendectomy to deal with an ingrown toe nail.    Since Loudon, I recall a boy was asked not to use the girl's restroom at a high school by one of the girls.  He, overwhelming her with height and weight,  assaulted her, claiming he had a right to be there.   Later I think eight girls beat him severely in another girl's restroom.  Again the problem is not transgender, the problem is assaults in restrooms and common courtesy.  TG is used as a smokescreen and it seems to paralyze thought among administrators who do not want to do anything to provoke controversy.

Time to get with your Primary Care doctor and be referred to a neurologist or an orthopedist.  It could be many things, too many for any of us here to guess at.

Other than the Boy Scout motto, oath, and law. I use two:   When asked how I'm doing? In all honesty I reply. I would have to make something up to complain. If asked to explain further: I reply. I know someone is having a tougher time than I am, and I pray God blesses them.   I also recite this quote that I have tagged in my signature: Courage, doesn't always roar. Sometimes it's the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."-Unknown    Saying these things daily keep me motivated.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

If this goes on, I am conceding the real possibility of being stopped in WM or somewhere by a concerned citizen who tells me, "Lady, God made you female.  I don't think you should be trying to look like a man. You need to return to your true gender and be comfortable living your life out as a woman."   Begin odd and awkward conversation.  I have been thinking about this this morning.
