Reaching my target weight

Since starting up and following the C25K app for running now and even just started ballet.  I lost 2 lbs.  myself.  I am starting to see some better progress.  I am at 213lbs.

It's slow go for me.

I love the C25K app for the couch to 5k run.  It is so nice for me since I have not ran in years.  Then I am super happy that I started ballet and I am having fun like how I wanted.  My legs and abs are sore for 2 days after dancing.

I am still at 213lbs.  Getting frustrated here.  I have been doing the C25K run which is nice for someone that has not run in awhile and getting back into the habit.  Especially since it is nice here in PHX.  Then I moved to the Alexis Ren ab workout and stayed with it for the full 10min.

My workout routine is

Every other day, Mon., Wed., Fri. => Running C25K 20min run 5 min warmup / cool down

Tues., Thurs., Sat., Sun. => RIPT90 workout

Usually after my run, I do the Alexis Ren Ab workout.

Every Tue. is my ballet class.

My breakfast usually consist of either oatmeal or a homemade mixed berry / OJ smoothie.

Lunch is a hit or miss.  It all depends on when I wake up from working over night

Snack is an apple or mixed nuts

Dinner would be a salad, or skinless chicken breast cooked like stuffed, or vegetarian stuffed bell peppers.

I know my worst food I had to cut down on was alot of the carbs.  My carbs have been cut in half.

I am just wondering if cause of my backwards schedule on working at night and sleeping during the day is part of the problem,

Today was my ballet class and I did my RIPT90 beachbody work out.

Just from my ballet class alone, my legs are sore and my abs are so sore.  Ballet is a sport and a hard core workout.  But I am having fun and I have a giant smile on my face.

Sorry guys. In a hectic rush and get work done mode because I’m out of the office for four days next week on a party/training at a casino of all places. It’s going to be fun. I’m going to do my best to stay focused on my weight goals. They do have a gym so awesome.

my weigh in this morning was 176.8 pounds.

So I have tried doing something a little different with my cardio workout and have tried it out for 2 days so far and it actually worked.  So I have found this on YouTube where you use coconut oil and rub it all over your stomach area and love handles and then you take suranan wrap and wrap your whole middle section a few times like I did 5 or 6 times and then I put on this sweet sweat over the suranan wrap and begun my cardio.  On Day 1 before I did anything I put dots on my stomach and measured it in on 6 different areas around my stomach.  The past 2 days I have done this with my cardio for an hour and when I peeled everything off, I had sweat just pouring off of my middle area.  After day 2 I just measured myself and saw how I lost 1 inch from each of the 6 dots.  I am going to keep this up for 5 more days for a total of 7 days for a week and want to measure myself and see how my stomach looks

Itd be cool if it works Amy.

Tomorrow I am starting a NEW workout routine! Shaun T’s new series dropped this week. T-20. It’s an all out insane step aerobic workout. I am SOOOOOO EXCITED!!! 6 weeks. 6 days a week. And I don’t think the workouts repeat at all. 6 weeks till my wife and I go on our 5yr anniversary trip to Myrtle beach and I’m gonna be ripped and ready! ????

So my weight is still the same being 3 weeks so far at 214lbs.  However since I started wrapping my stomach and doing heavy cardio, I have measured myself on Day 4 after my heavy cardio and I am using the same dots that I put on my stomach area and went around and compared day 4 to Day 1 and my stomach area has started to get flatter.

Measurements

My weight is not going down but my stomach appears to be starting to shrink.  I am going to keep this up and take a look back at Day 8

Okay, first of all, I'm stoked to see an ongoing weight loss thread. Just reading over the last few pages is so motivating.

Amy, heck yes to ballet! It really is an intense workout, and requires excellent muscle control. I'm so lazy, though, I have trouble sticking to my halfhearted strength training regimen; I can't imagine doing both ballet and C25K. Your dedication to your workouts (and all the bad-for-you foods/drinks you've given up) is seriously inspiring.

Please please be careful with the saran wrap, though. I'm not a doctor or in any way qualified to give knowledgeable advice, but I've heard and read that exercising in saran wrap can be dangerous, leading to severe dehydration and overheating--and that the extra weight lost while using the wrap is actually just water weight, as a result of the excessive sweating. You do you, but I hope you do it safely!

Thank You @illisson.  But I cannot take all the credit.  My long distance friends @Kirsten and @RithiaAllen helped me out alot with the motivation and keeping my dedication.

Even though I am wrapping my stomach and with all of my workouts I do.  I always have water and drink water with my workout or after my workout.

Between doing Ballet, C25K app, Beachbody RIPT90 and following along with Alexis Ren Ab workout, I have a wide range of mixed workouts I do to keep me going.

Then I am glad on what I gave up on food and drinks and my refrigerator and cupboards have under gone a complete 180.

According to my weekly weigh in, I am still at 214 but I can see my stomach area starting to shrink.   I am wondering if I am turning the fat into muscle.

2 down, 40 to go!! I’m not gonna lie, today was tough. I was literally exhausted by the end. To the point that it was tough to get up the stairs to shower. Lol. But you know, all the work will be worth it. All the time put in that nobody sees. All the blood sweat and tears at 430 am. That’s when you learn who you are and what you’re made of. That’s when you make the hard choices to either break the cycle and change your life or keep being lazy. It’s your life. LIVE IT!!

I want to thank @Kirsten for her help on figuring out where I am still eating to be causing me not to lose weight and why I have platued.  I have been pushing myself even more to the point of exhaustion and cannot continue anymore.

For my meals yesterday which I did not eat much due to my work schedule

First off = had 15 normal bottles of water that is the 16.9oz bottles you get at the super market.

I really only had snack which was carrots and Ranch Dip.  I know the Ranch dip is bad.

For dinner at work, I had Baked Salmon with a cup of black beans and salsa.  According to my meal plan that I followed from RIPT90 calories 405, Protein 42, Carbs 25

Snack at work I had an apple.

I am wondering cause of my crack _____  hours I work at work where I am overnight and sleeping during the daytime if that can also be a factor that is harming me as well to loose weight.  My sleep schedule and eating schedule is all messed up with my work schedule.

Lots of Love

Link to comment

My guess with your sleep schedule is that if you are constantly changing it, it is going to affect you. I know when I have to work a 24 hr shift at work it takes me about 2 full days to be back to normal. But if you work third shift, and stay on a third shift sleep schedule every day I would guess it has slight to no impact. It’s the swapping that will cause you issues. I usually lose like 2-3 pounds on those long work days. Sometimes up to 5! But it goes back on pretty quick too.

My workout this morning was disgusting. I fell to the floor at one point after about 30 push-ups (2 months ago I could only do like 6!) overall and just couldn’t push myself up again. It was hilarious. I had to roll on my side to stand. ??‍♀️ I was still shaking 20 minutes later in the shower. God do I love this series. I know I know. My wife tells me I’m crazy all the time. But for me it was like a flashback to 2-a-days in high school. Literally almost vomited I worked so hard. And I love that!

But I had hit my 20 pounds lost mark last week. After the casino and the Celtics game I had gone back up 3ish pounds and now I’m back down in the 170s again! I am thinking I’ll see ab definition within a month! ??????

Kirsten and Amy, you are both so inspiring. I can't match your workout intensity--are you two superhuman??--but today is my third day of eating salads for lunch, and I'm determined to stick with it. That's a tiny step toward fitness compared to what you've accomplished, but hey, I feel good about it. I've even managed to convince my husband to have salad for a meal for a few days, though he's significantly less thrilled about it than I am. Poor guy.

Congrats on your progress, Kirsten! And Amy, I hope you're at least getting some good quality sleep, even if the schedule is a mess.

That’s awesome illisson! We all have to start somewhere. Each small step in the right direction will keep adding up and before you know it you’ll reach your goals as well.

And I am not super human. Or am I!? ??♀️

Thank you illusion.  I owe my motivation to Kirsten and Ritiha.  I started out slow myself with giving up bad drinks and bad food and then doing light exercise.  But I now have moved to an insane workout.

Today I had a nice chicken salad that I made.  However, it's hard to give up Ranch dressing.

I do get good sleep, but it is a split sleep.  But I can say on my split sleep, I do hit REM sleep which is the important part of sleep.

Today I did the Alexis Ren ab workout twice.  By the second time. I felt like I was going to die.  I pushed myself so hard that my abs are on fire.

Chicken salad with mayo?! Mayo is another not so great food. Condiments as a whole are all cheats. Ketchup, mustard, salad dressing, sour cream, cream cheese. All of that stuff. Tabasco is a free food that gives some taste to your food. I use a lot of Tabasco. Lol. But as much as you can do things plain, and even the less cooked the veggies are the better. Cooking veggies can result in huge loss of vitamins and minerals. I steam mine for like 3-5 minutes. Just enough to make them pliable.

Heres the info on ranch

BAACD06F-0183-42F3-B6FE-445D5518FAE6.thumb.png.b3ae15f161838ee5ade210e670896383.png

literally nothing good for you. High sodium, added sugar, high fat content.  And that’s for 2 tbsp. Which is barely any. Most people average 3x that’s single serving. That’s a lot of calories and fat. If that’s your cheat for the day then that’s fine. But if you have others, they will add up. Just something to think about. You can’t kill yourself with diet. But you do have make choices too.

Another day down! And another exhausting workout. I am literally counting the minutes till Sunday when I get a day off!!! Yaaaayyyyy!!

Also ill be starting my coaching for beachbody in the next few days/weeks. Idk how much training there it to go through, but if anyone is interested, please dm me. We will have a Facebook group for motivation. It’s pretty cool to do these programs alongside our sisters. It really makes it more fun. And much more attainable. Just an offer. ?

I am officially a coach!!! Yay!! Very excited to jump in!!! I hope I enjoy it as much as I think I will. I am part of a group of 170 female coaches that all work together to give our girls everything they’ll need to stay motivated and get great results!! I can’t wait to get started and be a part of their team.

What a great day today was!!

I did miss my workout though. Part of the process was resetting my Beachbody account and I had no access to the programs this morning. Sunday’s are off days normally, so I’ll catch up then.

Stay positive and keep pushing everyone!!

Well week 1 was a success! I hit 6:6 workouts. And week 2 is starting out the same! I’m also trying to get my steps in every day too! I’m short today, but the last 3 days have been off the charts! Almost hit 17k the other day actually. Becoming a coach has made me become more accountable to myself. If I can’t live this lifestyle, how can I expect anyone to follow me.

Hope everyone is doing well and pushing hard! ????

Yes, our little town is having its 3rd annual Pridefest. I've volunteered the first two years  from setup to tear down (though I do take an hour off to eat and drink in the middle).     Then I attend a bigger one a couple towns over that has had some decent entertainment from some semi-famous folks (Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Carmen Carrera, Judy Gold, etc).    This year I made sure to ask off of (weekend) shifts to attend a 3rd one where a group I'm in is in the parade.

Hi Vicky, I agree with you, so far since the time I've been under the new treating doctor's care, she prescribed me medication, but it's for children lol  luckily  my pharmacy warned me from a phone call not to take the medication.

Things hit the fan today. I was reminded that "this is not a gender fluid establishment."   I had changed my preferred name and gender at the hospital on their app. My x-ray report came in with my preferred name and gender. It was not appreciated by the centre. 😬

I'm not a nutritionist but I've gone on bulking diets in the past so I can suggest a couple things to try. Foremost, food-prep stuff that you like to eat. Any 'real food' that usually sounds good to you. That way, you don't have the time-sink or hassle of cooking for every meal. You're more likely to eat if stuff if it's convenient and mostly ready. For example, I'll spend an hour or so one evening prepping burrito ingredients that will last me the next 3 nights. Then it's just a matter of microwaving the beef/beans and throwing them into a tortilla; takes 5 min.   If you need food 'on the go' often, consider prepping smoothies in advance pre-separated out into individual containers. I personally like low-no fat yogurt blended with fruit and, here's the weird part, those water flavor drops. They add sweetness without dumping in excess sugar. Insulated containers will keep them reasonably fresh non-refridgerated all day so they can even be tossed into a backpack.    Hope of those sparked some ideas!

I did get a sorry from the mechanic, saying it was all on him. The boss just said I just went by what I was shown. I didn't look at the paper work. I thought maybe you should before jumping down someones throat.   I am still in the market. Just waiting to find the right one.   Hugs, Kymmie

Thanks for your thoughtful reply @RaineOnYourParade.  I totally understand and agree with what you said.  I'm in no way proposing a law to decrease population.  It must be done on the demand side.  My role in this is simply to be highly visible and inspiring on many different levels and cultures from around the world.   We tend to focus on changing laws and that is addressing things on the supply side.  If we make a law to tax a type of business to try to steer the economy, we are changing the supply side.  People don't think of politics as a demand side thing, but our leaders should be inspiring us to change our behaviors.  Like the motto I was taught in the Navy "lead by example".  Although I could have tried to do this all with my music, I was not going to be successful with that.  It's reasonable to try to have a career as a highly visible politician to lead like this.   I never had any children that I know about.  I've had a pretty fabulous life.  Lots of ups and downs.  Lots of adventures.  Because I wasn't watching TV and I wasn't having children, I had to fill my time with something.  Although I am super ambitious with this political thing, all I really want to do is cook a nice curry dinner and have an intimate evening playing music for/with a partner and/or a friend or two.  And of course I enjoy cleaning the house and doing some writing, math and things.  I try to give back to society, but I'm not one of these people who just wants to serve.   It's very encouraging what the younger generation is doing in my opinion.  It's rough around the edges and I feel we could be more intentional about things.  Since population is declining, and I'm suggesting it to decline even more, we'll have this problem of there not being enough young people to take care of the old people.  I'm very strong on protecting our younger generation from having to babysit old people.  There simply aren't enough of them to do it like it is being done now.  I think this population reduction stuff is so important and this younger generation is just inheriting all these realities that I want to totally get them out of the business of taking care of older people.  The idea is to get medications mailed to them.  Make doctor visits very short and sweet.  Get old people staffing old folks homes.  I think we have a huge problem with mental health treatment in this country.  I think our economic realities from greater automation and income disparity have lead too many people to fall into despair.  We have to do something with our time and if we get rid of jobs with automation, and we stop making making housing (a decreasing population doesn't need more housing), then we still have to do something with our time.  I was successful at fighting addiction with relatively low carbon emitting work.  I make apps on the computer and record music in my living room.  I don't own a car.  I've been working part time from home for 12 years.  I actually work an excessive amount to do politics like this, but I have had periods of downtime.     Totally!  I think that humanity is just going to go in reverse here and these rural areas are going to be popular with younger people.  Set them up with some wind turbines.  Adjust to not having power 24/7.  Plenty of space to grow food.  Keep up the roads well enough to truck in some grains and other supplies.  As long as climate change doesn't cause some kind of environmental or insect problem, I think these rural places are going to be great.  I think we'll have to pick and choose which ones to continue supporting and which ones to abandon.  There are always details to work out.   I think in a world that is aging with declining population, people who are more unhealthy are going to be moving towards the cities and people who are healthier and middle age will move to the suburbs.  The suburbs are OK places as long as you are strong enough to get around by bicycle.  As someone who is 53 and physically fit, I groove on the idea of those big houses in the suburbs becoming house parties.  Perhaps I'm just dreaming though! LOL!   @awkward-yet-sweet is making some interesting points here.  My first wife did concrete work on the freeways in Chicago.  They do that up there because the extreme cold cracks the asphalt.  Those freeways are annoying with all the bumping between joints, but the roads last a long time.  But it takes a lot of industrial heat to make concrete.  Yes, humanity got along without the paved roads before and we can do it again.  We all inherited this world the way it is.  Sure, us older people contributed to it as well, but this whole industrialization/globalization thing has been going on a long time.  Perhaps we will avoid the horse and buggy thing and do a lot of mountain biking?

Hi, I'm . . . . let's go with initials for now. M.A. works. I've been out as genderfluid for about a year but finding I have more questions about my identity now than I did this time last year. I'm AFAB, in my mid forties, widowed parent with three teens (god help me!).   I have a new therapist as of two weeks ago, a decision I made with the help of my previous therapist and my new one specializes in LGBTQ+ needs so very well equipped to deal with my hot mess. We started screening for gender dysphoria this week and my response to almost every question she asked was "wait, that's not normal?" I don't live in a particularly sheltered bubble but somehow I seem to be much better at recognizing when my friends are struggling, than when I'm struggling myself.   I'm a freelance writer and graphic designer, and in my "free time" (lol, TWO of my offspring are theatre/band/choir kids, and the third is an aspiring screenwriter, y'all can imagine the sheer chaos easily) I write plays/musicals, and poetry.
