Whoo hoo!  Success story!  I am full of the warm fuzzies.  I was looking in one of the shops out here and the girl working started fangirling with me over my Sailor Moon accoutrements. She thought they were cute and we nerded out.🤗

Now you are talking my language. I live for summertime and the fashions both pool side and in general.

I come alive in the summertime.  You look great in your bikini Bri!

I like to dress a little witchy.

Mmmmm.  There's something alluring about having that power.  It's dangerous, sexy, mysterious and confident.  Still, you can keep the spiders in any shape or size.  I have one trapped behind my computer at the moment waiting for the sun to rise so I can release it outside where it belongs.

It's cold AF here right now, releasing my little sister outside would be a death sentence. I've adopted a live and let live policy for my little eight-legged family. I used to be arachnophobic. Now, they're a little intimidating, but they're my sisters you know?

Hugs!

I feel the same way.  I have in the past killed spiders.  I regret that horribly.  I now co-exist with them.  In regards to the little feller I just released outside; that's where it was before I brought it into my house, so I returned it to its natural habitat.

Spiders are our friends.

@JandiI mostly agree with you on this statement. When they’re outside I don’t kill them, unless they’re in frequently visited areas of guests on my patio or front porch. My mother may have instilled a stronger than fear of the brown recluse, and black widow 🕷 spiders, I squash them quickly. If my Suzie finds a spider of any type it’s going to die. If I find one, I’ll catch it in a glass with a piece of paper, and carry it outside. I will admit that I love spider jewelry of all types, and not just for Halloween.

Well look at you!  I almost feel like that's a challenge! 😆  They look great.  What's that material?  And I'm horrible at ball parking height.  How tall are the heels there?  Loving the little part where the toes are visible.  Makes it look like...cuter...or something like that.  Not sure of the word to use.  Either way, totally lovin' it.

It's all good. They're covered in black rhinestones and have 5 inch heels with a 1 inch platform. I love the peep-toe too. It's not the best weather for them here but I'll make it work.

Well keep workin' it girl!  We should get you a runway and you do a whole show yourself.  Modeling the looks and constructino of your outfits.  Think "Project Runway" but without the evil reality tv tropes and Tim Gunn gets to announce you.

Spiders are our friends.

I hope nobody minds a brief, and possibly a bit off the wall, comment.  My brain is a kooky place and tends to make associations between things that occasionally make sense, but usually leave people perplexed by whatever mental process made the leap for me.    My partner will attest to this, and I if anyone is around both of us in any consistent context, you will not find it uncommon to hear things like, “Hon?  What the hell does the reshoots in “The Fantastic Four”  (2015) have to do with Patrick Stewart’s audition for the Captain Picard role in TNG?  And if you’re curious, brain did this:

The Fantastic Four had reshoots. -> The reshoots were filmed a significantly long time after everything else had wrapped. -> You can tell which scene were reshoots because there are noticeable inconsistencies between primary filming and reshoots. -> One of the easiest inconsistencies to spot is Kate Mara’s hair.. -> Because the amount time between wrapping primary filming and reshoots, Kate Mara had moved on to other projects. -> Because Kate Mara was involved in other ventures, her hair no longer had the same length and color seen in any of the primary filed scenes. -> Because her hair was no longer the same length or color, she would have to wear a wig.  -> Wigs are typically an option for hiding or managing baldness. -> Patrick Stewart is bald. -> Patrick Stewart was auditioning for the role of Captain Picard. -> Gene Roddenberry didn’t like the idea of a bald Captain. -> Rick, Berman  badly wanted “the English guy and was pushing him as the right person for the part. -> To placate Gene Roddenberry, Rick Berman pitched the idea he could audition with a wig or hair piece during his efforts to promote Patrick Stewart to the part. -> Gene Roddenberry said he would be willing to entertain the idea. -> A  wig was procured and sent to Patrick Stewart in England for his audition.

Ergo, the reshoots in “The Fantastic Four” (2015) make me think of Patrick Stewart getting a wig for his audition for Captain Picard.  But my brain goes through that process in like, half a second.

Now you probably want to know how this has anything to do with spiders right?  Of course you do!  And this one won’t be as lengthy and potentially convoluted.

Spiders scare many people. -> Spiders, on the whole, are not actually dangerous. -> Typically, providing exposure and open dialogue can help people impacted by their fear. -> Children are statistically more prone to fear spiders. ->Children watch TV. -> TV stations market a cornucopia of TV shows directed toward this child audience. ->Some of these shows are extremely popular and keep children tied to show through products and endorsements. -> This marketing strategy exposes children to the show and characters, regardless of these children having  seen the show being slapped on merchandise or not. ->  A widely known and successful children show is Peppa Pig. (And I have 2 sons.  I am almost painfully aware of Peppa Pig) -> The show revolves around thoughts and behaviors needed for productive, positive social interaction s. ->Using  this show would be a good way to help many children suffering from typical fears or concerns such as spiders.. -> If children watch Peppa Pig handling a spider without fear or anxiety,  they can learn spiders aren’t so bad or scary. -> The Peppa Pig episode about spiders was pulled from airing in Australia. -> Australia has spiders. -> Australian spiders can be terrible beasts of frenzied, panic inducing evil birthed by Cthulhu -> Australian spiders have terrible social skills. -> proximity to these Lovecraftian monsters of pain and chaos can result in severe damage, pain, and possibly death. -> When Australia saw Peopa Pig saying don’t be afraid of spiders, the general consensus was, “Be afraid.  Be very afraid.” ->  To prevent  Australian children from being manipulated by Peppa Pig’s horrible lies about spiders, the episode was banned.  Spiders = Bad.  No touchy.

Ergo, spiders make me think about Peppa Pig getting an episode banned.

Sorry for the grand novel. 🙇🏻‍♀️  Thanks for reading it all if you did.

To be clear, I don't permit Black Widows or Brow Recluse in the house (if encountered). But mostly I leave them be.  I have had some bugs I was not fond of.   The enemy of my enemy…

Snakes are what I get unreasonable about.  We do have a live and let live thing for the most part.  Although I am a little offended when they move into the house (if I know) (and they do).

On the other hand, my young granddaughter will play with the creepy things.

Just like anything else that is new it's always the thing that people fear of. People are typically afraid of change. Even something as simple as new procedure at work or the population growing. Typically just have the mindset of it's not broken then don't fix it type of attitude. The world is progressing and they need to accept that or they will eventually be left behind. A good example after WW II women working in the workforce things didn't go well at all due to a lot of butting heads. There are still even people now that think women are only meant for housework and raising babies.

I've actually seen a lot of people who at least tolerate the LGB and not the T. There's also some of the gay/lesbian population that, unfortunately, alienate trans people away from other parts of the community.   To me, the biggest block is probably the lack of formal exposure. If people aren't taught about LGBT they will, just like any other topic, come to misunderstandings and more. Besides, how can most LGBT people figure out that they are such if they don't know it exists? I know that, personally, I didn't realize I was a guy rather than just someone who wanted to be a guy until I was introduced to trans as a concept

That's a lot of weight congratulations. I was almost about to become a K9 handler in the Air Force back in 2006 but I found out that once you get promoted to E7 you lose your dog. You can get it at E4 as long as they need them but it is usually E5. If you don't understand military jargon, I'll help you out. I didn't want to join the Marines because I actually like to be treated better. I was Security Forces and performed security, law enforcement and everything you could think of such as convoying, fire fights, search pit just to name some. It also helped that I had family that was Air Force and I went through Air Force Junior Reserves Officer Training Corps so I knew the basics of Air Force already. That's awesome that you have goals in life. I hope you get it.

@FelixThePickleManTrust me I know the feeling. I didn't have the guts to come out that young. It wasn't well known back then. I knew I felt completely wrong. I knew for sure my parents weren't going to help me so I hid it all. It hurt a lot to live a lie. I always pretended to be the female that I was dating. I prayed and cried every night. It's not easy because bullying has always been around and the teachers didn't really care about that stuff back then.    You can make it through this. I would like to help you out just like I have with previous members. It's going to be up to you if you would like it. It's not going to happen overnight I can promise you that. For every negative thing or comment it typically needs double the number for positive things to feel better about yourself. You unfortunately are living with your parents which they are getting used to you coming out too. Sometimes coming out you're going to lose a lot of support. I lost over 40 family members but I'm happier than what I was. I still look at the mirror and still have my issues which is typical because we know our own faults and short comings. You have to value yourself. There isn't going to be an easy life. We all face many obstacles and it's harder for the ones that have something else to deal with.   We aren't in the same boat as some people are in yachts, cruise ships, and so on. There are perks and cons to each one. The best thing is to find something that you are great at and focus on that while trying to improve on the little things. Some have rituals everyday such as a new Bible verse that is related to what you are going through or a poem there are many poems for everything.

Tonight we will split a thick cut ribeye steak grilled outside, along with fresh asparagus shoots, apple sauce, and fresh cucumber salad. The steak has already been seasoned, wrapped in butcher paper resting to room temperature. The cucumber salad is blended and resting in the refrigerator.   Tomorrow's dinner will be Chicken drumsticks (skin on) that are already marinating in Zesty Italian dressing. Tomorrow I will smoke the drumsticks with apple-wood smoke, before crisping them up on the grill. We'll also have grilling beans, and garlic mashed potatoes.   The outside kitchen is now open.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Clutching of pearls because people that don’t “align with society” party to excess is part of the problem, not a symptom of one. Cis-het folks are out there airing their sexuality, reveling in their debauchery, and displaying general anti-social behaviors all the time but aren’t reacted to in the same manner.   The most important T in this conversation is Time. As long as there is not a fascist, violent, crackdown on LGBTQ+ people, our exposure to society (at least in Western society) will continue to move it towards our acceptance.

I have three within a two block walk! You'd think I was in Seattle already! The one I have always gone to is the quintessential "local coffee shop" though; local artist's works on the wall, drinks named after customers and local geography, and it's run down just enough to feel homey. Also, I can bring my 20oz coffee mug in and get it filled for the price of a small! :D

Eczema was my excuse. *high fives!*   It's lovely when you get a nice interaction like that. Yesterday I got a "you're so sweet" from a man who I held the door for, I don't think he saw all of me until after he'd walked past so he only picked up on my outfit and body appearance. I was so paranoid that I used too male of a voice in return, but c'est la vie. I felt really nice after it though.   I tend to try to put in a lot of effort. If I wear make up, it has to be perfect, etc. I put this pressure on myself because I, too, don't have a chance in h-e-double hockey sticks at "passing".  So, I try not to make myself an "easy target".
    • KathyLauren
It's just the opposite here.  There are a ton of local boutique coffee roasters in this area.  There is no excuse for bad coffee here, which is why I am always surprised when I get mediocre truck-stop coffee in restaurants.
