I'm hopeless at keeping a remotely early schedule, always have been, so personally, I'd absolutely love going "daylight savings"-only. I'd end up seeing more daylight and sleeping through less of it that way. But @Willow, you makes a good point too, it would be nice to have a more consistent time system across the globe. Either way, I just want to stop changing the time twice a year.

@Ivy Congrats, Ivy!! 🎉🎉

I can tell you it gets very confusing when some countries change while others don’t or Southern Hemisphere countries switch opposite directions and there is a two hour change.

I participate regularly on a Zoom meeting which has people from Australia as well as from North America.  The majority are from the US, so it is scheduled according to the Central time zone, but the poor Aussies have to switch their times twice each season.  They started at 11:00 am all of our summer, their winter.  Now that we are off DST, they start at 12:00 noon.  In a few weeks, they will start at 1:00 pm when they go onto summer time.  They do it all in reverse on our spring, their fall.

I'd like to see them switch to standard time all year.  If people want more evening hours, they should work 8-4 instead of 9-5.

@Ivy, congratulations on your name change!

@Ivy Congratulations!  Leave it to government to take something simple and make it take forever.... Glad that you have the perseverance to get what you want.

I work evenings. Besides, not everyone is a morning person.

@Ivy

If only it was that easy... actually, I can't recall the last time I met someone who worked 9-5, or actually had a choice of work hours unless they were management.  My husband is a senior manager at his company, and he's usually working 6am to 4pm.

When I worked for Public Works here, our hours changed with the seasons.  When I retired, we were working 4, 10 hour days each week.

I talked with OPM, the office that oversees federal retirees' annuities, etc. Had to confirm that I had told them about my divorce 2 months ago. I had. I was asked about withholding for income tax. Oops. Forgot about that. Ok, so I got my divorce document to verify whom I get to claim. Instead of married, filing jointly as a family of 6, I'm down to single, as family of 3. So my monthly annuity payment will now be $600+ less. Ouch.

OUCH! I went through something similar a couple years ago with my DoD retirement pay. It wasn't quite as big as a $600 change, but it was bad enough. I'm sorry that OPM did this to you and I empathize. Gotta love the federal government--they're gonna squeeze every last dime they can.

A lot of years ago I worked for the federal government, they allowed for closing your schedule as long as it was 80 hours every two weeks.  Most chose a 5-4 schedule with 9 hour days. You got a three day weekend every other week, worked 8 9 hour days and 1 8 hour day and you could chose your start time.  I took public transit so I had to depend on the bus schedule as to my hours.  But I still got off as early as possible.

Election Day!  Not a lot of choice here.  Bad choice or worse choice, or no choice!

Good morning brought to you by  Costco coffee dark and bold.

yes it is good to see young people who stay together.  Unfortunately I have two young friends who are going through difficult times including divorce with kids involved.  It’s to the point in one case where birth mom has become violent and aggressive because mommy caught her cheating then recorded the “violence” clearly showing mommy only tried to get away, while mom chased, pulled hair and demanded that a phone be given to her.  Then after mom was arrested she went to a different county and filed charges against mommy.  Mean time 3 year old wants mommy and has started having accidents again.  Particularly difficult situation.  Charges were dismissed on mommy but mom keeps asking that dcs postpone hearings on custody.

Sorry I haven't been to talkative lately. I've been diagnosed with influenza A. Haven't worked since Sunday, off till next Tues.  Just have been sleeping and drinking water.  I think our youngest has it too.

My wife has had a worry also. He father was diagnosed with back, lung and liver cancer in April.  He is currently in the hospital with covid and he has pretty much given up. Last she told me not doing to good.  So, our life has been all peachy.

Hugs,

Kymmie

Hello everyone

@KymmieL sorry to hear you have the flu, and sorry to hear your father-in-law is doing so poorly.

l’ e been having a terrible time lately with my GERD.  I’m taking my pills as prescribed but if I don’t watch very carefully I’ll end up eating something that triggers it.

our dog had her annual visit with the vet. $250 and four shots later she was pronounced fit as a fiddle.

We are dodging Nichol right now.  We are getting rain from the outer bands and high surf and tide warnings.  Wind no greater than 40 unless we have a tornado.  The center of whatever is left of Nichol is supposed to be west of us tonight.

so spending a quiet day at home, keeping dry.

      I asked AI to create an image of myself 30 years younger based off my avatar on another site and this was the result:     Wow! I am amazed how close it got my 30 year old face!

      Quite true.  The amusing thing about opposites is how similar they can be.   My family left Greece because of the conflict between the communists and the militarists/fascists.

      This wouldn't even be a problem if they would just leave us alone.  It is a no-brainer.
    • Ivy
      OMG.  I'm glad it wasn't worse, and you were able to get on it quickly.  Lots of blood can be scary.

      Like I said, I'm no tankie, but I do see a world of difference between Joseph Stalin and Bernie Sanders.   If the point is not wanting 'government control' the Right is pretty good at that themselves - as they've been demonstrating lately. This stuff gets complicated.

      So, I am curious. Is the Governor going to mandate vaginal or penile recognition photos before one enters the restroom? Considering the Governor has no balls to do the right thing, will he have to pee against a tree outside? Inquiring minds would like to know. I love it when the job recruiters contact me about the wonderful jobs available in Oklahoma. It is so much fun telling them there is no way I will ever go to Oklahoma. When there are no workers, then they can shutter the place.

      Thank you! I'm out of coffee so I have been drinking hot tea instead. Looking forward to the 1st. It's crazy that we are almost in May. This year has flown by really quick! Good to hear that y'all got to sleep in. Hope you have a good weekend too!

      It's nice to care about others but you need to live your life as you please. No one be your only source of happiness. Love yourself and don't look back. I lost over 40 family members it hurts but apparently, they didn't truly love me. True love will always be there through the thick and thin. I can honestly say that HRT has made me think in ways that I never thought I would. I get myself some shoes or clothes every month because retail therapy not only helps but it is a reward to myself to show love. I have over 100 dresses. I have a whole walk-in-closet full of clothes and 67 pairs of shoes. I love who I am. I was born in 84 so not all people in the 80's think that way. As far as the name just take your time and be happy with it. I knew I loved the name Ashley. Take care and welcome!

      WOW @Ashley0616 it’s good that you have skills to treat traumatic injuries, as well as the ability to remain calm while managing others needs to get yourself and the boys ready to go to the hospital. Proud mama bear skills. I’m glad that he’s doing well.    Meanwhile back at the ranch, we slept in and I’m just now finishing my 3rd cup of coffee.    Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

      Well yesterday was not fun. I was getting ready to make dinner and I hear screaming and crying. I look over and my son put his foot through glass. He gashed near his Achilles tendon. Thankfully that is intact. I didn't freeze for a second. All of my military training came into play. I doctored him up and got Jett ready and myself and we headed to the ER. He is doing ok today. He says he is in pain but doesn't need Tylenol. He is a tough cookie!

      Hi,   It's seems today is my trans birthday.  I'm beyond excited. Just picked up my testogel from the pharmacy. Although I naturally have doubts as I'm sure do we all, they are rapidly disappearing. Yesterday I was so nervous I kept claiming I'm not trans, despite grinning like a fool knowing I can pick up my prescription the next day. I'm shaking and on the verge of happy tears. I will put on my first sachet this eve. Thanks so much to this forum and kind words from people. This is the first forum I found when I began seriously questioning.
