I'm always wondering what it's like in countries that don't have a reputation for being nice, haha. 

Also, I thought your story took place in Toronto, so that not being the case makes it even weirder and funnier.

Yeah no I live in a much smaller city haha. I've only been a few times and that's enough for me. 😅

Lots of people and lots of traffic. If you do go, avoid driving at any cost, use transit whenever possible. The reduced headache is worth it. I was once in a part of the city where the buildings are so tall, I couldn't even get a GPS signal. 😅

I dislike when I am walking and someone walks at the same pace just ahead or behind, usually in a country walk. I feel they are trying to listen in on my conversation if with someone or my thoughts if I am alone.  In a city this is way more likely but somehow more tolerable.

I suppose a city is more a "public place" whereas if you are in the country you expect to be alone.  For many of us, a stranger in that environment can seem threatening.

I'll keep that in mind! I can't imagine how people drive in such big cities. And buildings that tall would freak me out, haha.

Damn, that must be rough. Unless I'm walking in the country, there's almost always more than 2 or 3 people in my line of sight, sometimes many more.

I think @Ivy is right, it's to be expected when you're out in public but in the country you might be more worried because no one else is around.

I can handle it, I just don't prefer it. And that is exactly why I prefer the country lol. Critters are adorable and I don't have to worry about them judging me. 😁

It's always so awkward when the person in front of you is going roughly the same speed. Do you slow down to match their pace, power-walk to slowly pass them, or spring past them like a bat out of hell? I've tried all three and they seem equally awkward to me. 😂

I'm an observer but I don't listen into other conversations. I used to be a cop so I would hang back and observe them. If they slowed down again I would take a different route not so loudly they can hear me. I would also be careful though too because they might have someone behind you. I always pray for the best and expect the worst. It's a big reason why I can't handle big cities and I still think my city is big enough with only 18,429 people. I grew up in the country you didn't have neighbors you had land. You could step out in the middle of the property and take care of business and no one would know. It was mostly for farmers but there was a bad part that had drug dealers. We lived on the outskirts of it so it wasn't bad. My Mom still has that house with 12.5 acres. I don't really like neighbors but I also don't like spending hours to cut grass and still not be done.

Animals are the best, haha. There's been times I was alone where I'd say to my pets "I'm trans" for fun and just watch their non-reaction.

I'd be more worried about me judging or scaring myself if I said that out loud tbh lol. But yeah animals couldn't care less. So long as you have food for them... 😁

It's hard for me to say, too. I find "I'm trans" doesn't have quite the same weight as "I'm transgender." Not sure why.
